Recently I've discovered the Petz games, a series from the late 90s that still has a thriving online community today.
Here's a link to my Petz Universal Online Game Site (PUGS) profile! Sometimes I have bred Petz for sale there.
Wondering how to make transparent Petz images or gifs? I wrote a guide, and here's another good guide for ScreenToGif Petz gifs.
SOME OF MY BRED PETZ
The breeding system in the Petz games is truly incredible, far better than any game I've ever played, modern or otherwise. Even with just the base cat and dog breeds that come with the game you can breed a huge variety of unique looking petz. And when you add user created, or "hexed", breeds to the mix, things get crazy and wonderful. I've bred a LOT of petz in the short time I've been playing this game, some normal cats or dogs, and even more weird hybrids. Here are some of my favorites!
But first...
Here's a list of some of the breed files I've used, who made them, and where to get them:
- Various Breedz from Vicki's Petz Zoo. While this site is still up, it's very broken and parts of it are missing. You can view a lot of what's missing using the wayback machine, but not everything. However, a nearly complete archive of all files can be found here.
- The Beacon Cat breed was also created by VPZ, and the breedfile can be found at Meers' site here.
- Various breedz from Carolyn's Creations.
- Various breedz archived at Faepetz.
- Various half life breedz from the New Lambda Research Facility (NLRF), found here.
- Annoying Dog by Reflet, found here.
- Various breedz from BAD_DEATH. (Condroniz here)
- Various breedz by gyiyg, found here.
- Various breedz (alot, bearyena, spotted hyena, houndoom) by Kalium, found here.
- Various breedz from Mythic Silence, found here.
- Various breedz by mazzew, found here.
And here's a list of breeding overwrites:
CATZ
ALIZA
This is Aliza, a mix of Siamese/Alley Cat cat breeds. She is very fun to take pictures of and is always doing something interesting.
CLAWZ
Clawz is great, she might be my favorite pet I've bred. She's got the claws and texture of a Condroniz, the body and face of a snow leopard, achicat wings, a lepitaur tail, and a siamese voice and personality.
Clawz is a hybrid of a lot of different breeds, specifically:
WARNING SIGNS
Warning Signs is Clawz's mother, and has the same mix of breeds except for the Condroniz and the Siamese.
I love her bright red spivak tail, paws, and ears. I think her tail looks like a gummy worm.
Pictured to the right is the extremely tiny kitten she had recently.
INTERFERENCE
Interference is Clawz's father, and has the same mix of breeds except for the Spivak and the Achicat.
Interference is truly bizarre. Condroniz already look strange enough with their weird elongated faceless heads, and somehow it looks even weirder when you put a snow leopard skin and tail on a condroniz body. To top it all off, he meows like a normal housecat. I love him.
GREENY
A mix of a bunch of things, but mainly Draco (by Carolyn's Creations) and Meez1 (by Mazzew).
I liked the idea of a cat with dragony claws so much I was inspired to start the breedings that eventually led to Clawz.
OREO MILKSHAKE
Cross between a Condroniz and a Lepitaur. Looks and sounds just like her lepitaur parent but with a condroniz tail and claws.
Has a little brown patch near the tip of her tail for some reason :O
SPOTTSON
Son of Oreo Milkshake, grandson of Aliza. Has many, many different breeds as ancestors but mostly looks like an alley cat/lepitaur mix.
CACOPHONY & SNARGLE
These two siblings are crosses between an Alley Cat and a Ringtail Lemur (by VPZ). Bred using Cargo Petz's feral colony overwrite. I love them, even though they crash the game about 1 out of 5 times if I try to breed them.
TASSEL
DOGZ
WOLV
A mix between Annoying Dog by Reflet, and Despair and Barghest by VPZ.
Looks like a Barghest, with the head posture of a Despair and a little goatee. I love her concentric blue and orange eyes.
INVERSE
Sibling to Wolv. Always takes really eerie pictures, with those blank black eyes and Despair posture... but he has the cheerful personality and high pitched voice of an Annoying Dog. I love him.
SHAGG
Child of Inverse and a pitch black antlered Puppybonez (by VPZ) named Ink. I have to give her a background color or she's completely invisible. True cryptid vibes.
SNOOF
Child of Shagg and a Show Rat (by VPZ). Despair shaggy fur and posture, Rat head and coat. Amazing.
CRAWLER
Sibling of Snoof. Looks like a normal dog with bizarrely short legs and black, empty eyes. Shuffles around in jerky motions, completely silent. Has no tail.
MOLE
Child of Crawler and a Bullsquid (from NLRF). Has rat legs and tail, and bullsquid everything else. Runs around screaming a bullsquid scream. Named after the star-nosed mole.
PUBBY
Child of Dryer Sheetz (a sibling of Shagg) and a Bullsquid.
Has a skeletal body, despair head, and bullsquid bodyplan. A cheerful dog who loves to play.
DOGAROO
Primarily a mix of Barghests and a Wallaby (both by VPZ)
One of the few wallaby mixes I've bred that was born without extra limbs. Has a barghest face, fangs, fur color, and bark.
PATCH
A cousin of Dogaroo, Patch is an Achihond (by VPZ) mix. Son of The Way!
I love his markings, and his concentric blue and yellow eyes.
FUZZCRABS
These are what I'm calling "fuzzcrabs", a selective breed I'm working on bred from cats and headcrabs.
Pictured to the right is Lamarr Junior, one of my favorite fuzzcrabs.
My goal is basically to create fuzzy headcrabs with cat tails. They need to have headcrab bodies and limbs, fluffy or fuzzy cat fur, and cat tails. They can have either headcrab or cat voices, and any color pattern. I've bred my first fuzzcrabs using Alley Cats for the fur and tails, but any cat breed would work so long as it has a tail and the fur isn't smooth!
WIP Breed Standards:
- Voice: Headcrab or Cat
- Ears: None!
- Head: None!!
- Body: Headcrab
- Legs: Headcrab strongly preferred, however if everything else is perfect cat legs can be acceptable.
- Feet: Headcrab strongly preferred, however if everything else is perfect cat paws can be acceptable.
- Tail: Any, as long as it has one!
- Coat: Fuzzy, fluffy, anything as long as it isn't smooth!
- Size: Any... would love to see tiny or huge fuzzcrabs XD
Feel free to breed your own fuzzcrabs! And if you do, show them to me!!

Warning: Incredibly inbred.
